At the Civil Services Day celebrations hosted by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, a breakaway session on “Sustainable Livelihood through PM Vishwakarma” was held by the Ministry of MSME at Vigyan Bhawan on Tuesday. The session brought together senior officials and experts to assess the progress of PM Vishwakarma, aimed at empowering traditional artisans and craftspeople.
Dr Rajneesh, Additional Secretary & Development Commissioner, MSME, moderated the session and outlined the scheme’s vision and digital, paperless framework. He highlighted its focus on market linkages through events, e-commerce partnerships, and product promotion under the One Station One Product initiative.
S.C.L. Das, Secretary, MSME, emphasised the scheme’s whole-of-government approach involving MSME, Skill Development, and Financial Services ministries. He noted over 30 lakh registrations and highlighted the scheme’s recognition with the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration 2024.
Debashree Mukherjee, Secretary, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, said over 23 lakh beneficiaries have completed basic training, with advanced programmes underway to boost productivity and enterprise skills.
Manoj Muttathil Ayyappan, Joint Secretary, Financial Services, highlighted the role of collateral-free credit and interest subvention in driving financial inclusion, stressing the need for simpler processes and stronger last-mile banking.
